I, like you, woke to the horrific news of the multiple tornadoes. The first passage from Sacred Scripture is this:

And the Pharisees and Sad′ducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather; for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. – Matthew 6

This is an important gift to have in these days of confusion, where we can’t even trust our doctors, political leaders, or even Popes and bishops. We must have a well-honed sense of discernment, so we can read the signs of the times.

We see daily the increase in violence, hatred, and what I can only describe as mass cases of demonic activity. Yes, we need discernment. Without it we will be so confused as to fall for the wiles of the enemy of our soul.

So, let us frequently call upon our Lady of Fatima to obtain for us the grace to read the signs of the times. Let us pray her rosary, let us call upon the Holy Ghost, who dwells perfectly in her Immaculate Heart.

Finally, today’s events be a most vivid reminder to go to confession regularly, and to wear the brown scapular of our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

Recently, my bishop, Donald Degrood visited to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. He preached at a beautiful homily, which proved to me that he “gets” redemptive suffering. Thus, he gets my mission. I wept all during the homily. It was a blessed time.

It was on this day, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament that Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen passed to eternity. Please, in your kindness, pray this pray that this prayer for my healing.

Eternal Father, You alone grant us every blessing in Heaven and on earth, through the redemptive mission of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and by the working of the Holy Spirit. If it be according to Your Will, glorify Your servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, by granting the favor I now request through his prayerful intercession (mention your request here – [the swift, complete and lasting healing of Fr. Christensen’s ALS]).  I make this prayer confidently through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen
