Thanks to a very wise priest who sent me a copy of The Surrender Novena when I first learned of my diagnosis of ALS, I was better able to surrender to the will of God. It helped me immensely, so much so, that I oftentimes suggest it to those suffering from a whole host of trials. I too revisit it when I need to be immunized from fear, worry, and anxiety.
I hear from so many of you through the contact page of the blog, as well as on social media, who are fearful about the world, the Church, the country, heath, and general anxiety. I too know of these worries, I remember the utter panic when I got my diagnosis.
I come today with great and wondrous news: you no longer need to live in fear and anxiety! Jesus wants to provide a way to freedom, but we must surrender to his most holy will. We must surrender to him, who is love and mercy itself.
We, in our misery, often cling to what makes us miserable. Including our lack of trust in Jesus. This lack of trust wounds both us and Jesus! It wounds his heart, which has shown itself to be wholly trustworthy, yet we don’t trust his will for our lives. And it wounds us, because we deprive ourselves of the freedom that comes with surrendering to the perfect will of God.
So, put it off no longer! Join me in praying The Surrender Novena. I will post the nine days here, beginning tomorrow. Do yourself a favor and join me. Invite your friends to pray it with you. You will not be disappointed if you surrender to the God of Mercy.
